Car Insurance is a touchy subject at present in Ireland, and it seems nobody is immune to the increasing premiums in the market. Pulling hair out

Combine these increases with having been away from Ireland for a few years and it is enough to make anyone want to pull their hair out.

Having lived in Canada for the last two years I was always hearing of people who had moved home to Ireland and their struggle of getting insured again once they moved home, especially when they had not driven in Ireland in the last two years and their no claims bonus had expired.

I wanted to do something about it to make the move back home that little bit easier, I have picked up some tips along the way and want to share them with you. Leaving the Rocky Mountain views is hard enough without having to pay mountainous prices for your car insurance.

Top Tips:

  1. Change your licence back to an Irish licence as soon as you can, this will give you more options when it comes to car insurance as it is virtually impossible to get car insurance in Ireland on an international licence
  2. Get a copy of your driving experience from the foreign country, some insurers will take this experience into account when quoting
  3. Get named on someones policy, this will help you when you do buy your first car after returning from abroad as you will have built up named driving experience

If you’ve been away travelling in Canada, Australia or have just not driven in the last two years and have an expired no claims bonus give me a call for a quote on 015331820 and I will do all I can to help.

Who better to talk to than someone who has been in your shoes?
